Spring is just around the corner! Seriously, I can smell it!
It is time to start planning out those spring activities for kindergarten that is simple to use both at school and at home! Face it, with what we have going on this year, we aren’t sure where we will be week to week, so I am working to bring you spring activity ideas that can be done anywhere!
Spring Activities For Kindergarten
Spring Math Activities – Craft & Counting
For this activity, children read the book and glue the appropriate amount of tissue paper squares on the pages. My kids love that this can be done independently and it is also a craft!
For the tissue paper squares, I batch prep a whole bunch of 1-inch tissue paper squares of various colors over the summer so I have them for all school year.
Below I found tissue paper circles on Amazon, I do not own them, but plan to purchase them for next school year. Simple and low-cost prep!
Spring Math Activities – Count and Clip
Counting and clipping benefits both number sense development and fine motor strength. Children simply count the objects on the cards and clip the correct number with a clothespin.
There are so many fun clothespin varieties out there! Here is a fun bright colored set on Amazon!
Spring Math Activities – Count and Chain
Just like the count and clip activity above, kids count the objects on the card and link the correct number. This is just a variation to counting and clipping that helps to build a number sense foundation and helps to strengthen fine motor skills.
Spring Math Activities – Ten Frames
Ten frames are a fantastic way to help build a solid number sense foundation and set children up for success in mathematics for years to come. To read more about the benefits of using ten frames in kindergarten, I wrote a blog post all about it! Why Use Ten Frames In Kindergarten?
I always use fun mini erasers that I find in the Target Dollar Spot and on Amazon. Below are some spring/Easter erasers on Amazon!
Spring Sensory Bins – Math & Literacy

Spring Alphabet – Letters & Sounds
Spring Literacy Activities – Short Vowel Match
Short vowels are a skill that I need to constantly practice ALL OF THE TIME! Just think about it, vowels are TRICKY! They are the only letters that do not produce a crisp, distinct sound. Consonants cause your mouth and tongue to move and change when you say them. Vowels do not! When you say each vowel, your mouth barely moves, making vowels sound similar.
This is a simple spring activity that can be done in a center group to practice vowel sounds. I like doing these types of activities in centers because the kiddos have a chance to learn from one another as well.

Spring Literacy Activities – Spring Sight Words
Memory is a fun, easy activity that can be used in SO many different ways and for so many different learning skills. Not to mention memory helps with practicing turn-taking and working together cooperatively.
Spring Literacy Activities – Spring Write the Room
Writing the room is a fantastic activity to incorporate movement and learning! In the activity above, students are searching for spring words placed around the room and writing them on the worksheet.
There are so many more options! Other learning skills I use with writing the room:
- Sight Words
- Ten Frames
- Dot Cards
- Numerals
I am constantly adding in new write the room activities because they keep my kiddos highly engaged while learning.
