Hello there! It’s feeling a lot like fall this week! That means, it’s perfect timing to start planning sensory bins for Halloween for your kindergarteners!
Last week I posted about my favorite fall sensory bins and fillers. You can see my Fall Sensory Bins blog post here! If you are also looking for a sensory bin master guide, be sure to check out my post here!
Again, I raided the Dollar Tree and Target Dollar Spot to find some fun, unique sensory bin fillers to make my play-based learning extra fun! During October, you can find SO many fun and disgusting sensory bin fillers! Halloween is a unique time of year, so get creative!
Sensory bins for Halloween
All of these items I had found between the Dollar Tree, Target Dollar Spot, and on clearance from last year at our local craft store. I shop the clearance items every year at our local craft shops because you can get all sorts of fun things at a LOW cost!
In the photos below, I also used a cauldron to make the activity even more fun.
FUN TIP – You can also use the cauldron for St. Patrick’s Day activities!
Sensory Bin Fillers – Ribbon
Some of this ribbon I had found lying around in my craft closet. The rest I picked up half price at Michaels, my local craft store. This is definitely an item that I will be searching for on clearance after each season! If I see a color that I know I can use for an upcoming season that I do not have, I will purchase it them! I am all about saving money whenever possible, especially since the cost of these fillers can add up!
The fun thing is, I can use the silver ribbon also for Christmas, New Year’s, and Valentine’s Day. The purple ribbon I will also use at Valentines Day. These materials are so versatile! I can have my own two toddlers practice sorting by color to put each of these colors away until the next time they need to be used! It is a WIN-WIN!
Sensory Bin Fillers – “Hay”
The raffia (I just learned this word) I found at the Target Dollar Spot. All I did was cut the long spook in approximately six inch pieces. Easy-Peasy! It also comes in many different colors
Sensory Bin Fillers – Sparkly Foam Balls
These foam balls are awesome! First of all, I LOVE sparkle! Second, they are CHEAP! So at the end of the fall season last year I had purchased some of these foam balls (orange and purple) on clearance at Michaels (my local craft store). When I visited Dollar Tree this fall season I found more sparkly foam balls, orange and black! I just mixed them all togther! Clearance shopping for sensory bins is MY JAM!
If you cannot find these foam glitter balls around you, Amazon has them in stock!
Sensory Bin Fillers – Ping-Pong Ball Eyeballs
ALL of these items I found at Dollar Tree. Ping-pong eyeballs..SUCH CREEPY FUN! My kids love digging through these
If you do not have a Dollar Tree nearby, I found these (below) on Amazon. They are comparable!

Sensory Bin Kit
Some of the most difficult parts of sensory bin implementation are the gathering and preparation of the bins, aligning activities to curriculum and standards, and then the storage of all the materials. I have heard your struggles and been in the trenches with you! This is why I have created the Ultimate Sensory Box.
The Ultimate Sensory Box is the complete sensory bin toolkit that helps preschool and kindergarten teachers teach state standards while remaining developmentally appropriate and adding more opportunities for students to learn through play. Each box contains 16 intentionally-planned and creative activities along with everything that is needed! The only item not included is the sensory bin itself.
You can view the Ultimate Sensory Box listing on Cratejoy here!
