Starting a Subscription Box Company
Hello friends! Week 5 of starting a subscription box company already!
Before I get started, I need to say that I was not as accomplished this week as I could have been.
Reason being, I spend SO much time focusing on Kajabi, trying to learn the platform and switch over all of my emails and pages. I did not spend enough time working on my current business.
My lesson, stick with ConvertKit for now and slowly learn Kajabi. I will not need it right away to get started, although it would be nice! Even after spending SO MANY hours this week on Kajabi, I could still spend SO MANY more!
It is not worth the time and effort at this point. My focus needs to be on my people, creating my subscription box, and my current business.
The three-four things I am focusing on this week are:
- Social Media
- Product Sourcing
- Weekly and monthly goals
- ConvertKit and Kajabi dilemma
With all of this being said, let’s talk about the great things that I did accomplish this week!
Social Media
By far, I surpassed my goal of 1,000 Instagram followers for the month of October already! That is a huge win for me! I am also becoming more comfortable with putting my content out there and interacting with all of my people! Instagram was a completely new platform for me, so it is becoming much more familiar! Actually, I am really enjoying Instagram! I have put a lot more effort into my Instagram page than my Facebook page, so going forward I need to focus on Facebook a bit more. It is important to not spread yourself too thin and focus on TOO many things. When you try to do all the things, you don’t do any of the things well. The saying goes something like that 🤔.
ConvertKit
I am STICKING WITH CONVERTKIT for the time being! Learning Kajabi has been a huge challenge this week, and I definitely need to spend more time focusing on my business and my people! So, this week I switched everything over the Kajabi, and then switched everything over again to ConvertKit. Talk about a HUGE time waster! I won’t be doing that again until I absolutely need to. Kajabi is definitely in my future, it is just not the right time for me right now 😋.
Product Sourcing
This is the FIRST thing I will be doing next week! I plan to ask in the Subscription School facebook group for suggestions and guidance!
Logo/Branding
I received my mood board this week and I absolutely LOVE IT! Here is a sneak peek of one of the photos! So in love with the colors!
Weekly/Monthly Goals
Last week I figured out, after trial and error, that a daily and weekly schedule does not work for me. With this fail hanging over me, I brainstormed about how I was going to make some sort of schedule to keep myself on track and keep productivity up. Well, I decided to create monthly and weekly goals for myself instead! Let me just say, THIS IS IT! I find myself checking my goals throughout the day, working on my goal objectives first, and checking them off as I complete them. I can also set goals for the weeks ahead as they come to mind. Next week I am looking forward to using this strategy as I will NOT be focusing on Kajabi all week. Can you tell that I am not quite over it yet? 😫
Some photos below show you how I have started to organize my goals.
Airtable is amazing with organizing pretty much anything!
Pre-Launch Runway
I have been doing much better with aligning my social media posts, but still running into some roadblocks about what to post. Research and creation will need to be high on the priority list for next week! My goal is to create 7 social media posts each week and as it becomes easier for me, I will increase the number to get ahead!
Action Items
Things to focus on next week:
- Continue to figure out how to utilize Social Media to grow awareness of my subscription box business
- Brainstorm where I can source products for my subscription box
- Pre-launch runway!
